Seems like everytime I post my dArt journal entry, it's usually an update of some kind. This time is not too different, just want to let you all know I'm still here, just not as active as I should be, whether it's lack of motivation, life getting in the way, and a mixture of both. Not making any excuses or promises I can't keep as it's no good for anyone, including myself. I can promise one thing though and that is to get back to doing art on a regular basis again. Though a few things have slowed down the progress, such as me getting ideas to circulate more and much needed updates to a lot of the software I use. I can use the software fine without any problems, though for a couple of programs, it is becoming apparent that an upgrade is in the immediate future. With that said, while I'm doing my best to get the upgraded software I need among other things, I've also been at work on my short story webcomic, a large commission, and a few other projects of mine I want to get off the ground in the very near future (as said in my pervious entries). A few of which I may have to cancel, if only because I can't get them to work story wise. I might go back to them in the future, but in the meantime, I have more important priorities to work on.
Anyway, I think I've rambled enough. Now time to get to the real heart of the matter. In addition to a large commission I'm working on and personal projects, I also finally got a part-time job after being unemployed for over a year. Once I finally get my work and personal schedule balanced enough, I greatly attend to work once again. I have plans to upload several things here within the next few months, some of it old (like last year's October Sketch Challenge) and others fairly recent, many of them concept sketches of my characters in an upcoming webcomic. Now that I have my scanner set up (although in a separate room and need to use my laptop as a temporary scanning station), I can finally start doing traditional artwork again in addition to digital works.
Onto other things I feel worth mentioning. Starting next year, in addition to more art and building a portfolio, I'll finally be launching for newly designed art portfolio as well as another website that will showcase my projects. I had hoped to get my art website up and running this year (and I hope I can meet that goal if possible), but unfortunately, it might take a little while longer than expected (mainly the design itself and coding the whole thing). Additionally, I'm considering doing things such as bimonthly art streams to start with (maybe weekly, but we'll see in due time). Another thing is possibly have an option for a donation tip jar for anyone who wants to contribute any funds towards my art making and projects if they want, but not have to. It's an early idea, I know, but I want to think ahead to give both fund my projects and give back to all my followers in the future. While Patreon is another possibility, I don't think I want to try it just yet because I don't have too many followers and it's still a relatively new thing. Besides, before I can think about all of the big stuff, I have to focus on the smaller stuff, such as creating more content for all to enjoy.
So long story short, I'll be back for artwork as soon as possible; and looking towards to the future for showcasing my work and a way to both interact and reward my followers/watchers for their support. Twitter @ RaynesGem Tumblr @ raynedraws Tumblr @ leafrayne
